I just want to put that last paragraph another way: just because there's *some* evidence or supposed "evidence" for a claim does not mean that claim is true. People have found evidence or "evidence" for all kinds of absurd things; that's why you have ridiculous beliefs such as a belief in a flat Earth.[0] There are always outliers, variables not accounted for, placebo effect, nocebo effect, etc. Evidence needs to be substantial for it to be taken seriously.

Further, worrying about a tiny, insignificant risk is not only absurd, it is also dangerous. Fear is a powerful emotion that can be easily used to manipulate people. A modern example is terrorism; the United States government has been having a field day manipulating people with fear of "terrorist attacks" for more than a decade. This fear of a threat that is not very significant has made possible the USAPATRIOT Act, NSA spying, and perhaps other atrocious activities that I don't personally know about in the name of "safety". But even when the government is not taking advantage of your irrational fear, some business is, sucking money out of you by selling you crap that you don't need.
