I think it would be better if you try out gnome virtual file system. There is a ppa for that. The process is below.
add-apt-repository ppa:langdalepl/gvfs-mtp apt-get update Next when you run apt-get upgrade, gvfs-mtp will get installed as well. Reboot after upgrading. This works properly like any other file system partition. You can view your phone directory structure using this. Hope this helps.
