As if any other company or developer could ever be 'trusted'. That's why we need free software. I don't see any reason why duckduckgo should be more trustworthy than google.
Your arguing reminds me of the makers of prism break stating that trisquel shouldn't be used since it's based on ubuntu and 'canonical cannot be trusted'.
