Er, no.
Without Debian things would look a lot different, but - Debian is neither the  
oldest distro, nor the sole domain of freedom loving developers.
A problem with GNU/Linux is the tendency for users to end up thinking silly  
things like "wow, my distro is the root of all that is cool and good". If you  
used Debian for a while and then *buntu and then Trisquel, you forget that  
other distros exist - Slackware is going strong, as are the  
Fedora/SuSE/Mageia families. If you desire to use 100% libre software you're  
not restricted to Trisquel or Gnewsense.
