Even a single proprietary component is a security and privacy risk- certainly, if your computer NEEDS one proprietary component (And you are unable to replace your PC with one that doesn't need any proprietary software) it's better than nothing. With most PCs I've install Trisquel on, though, the only problem is wifi, which can be easily fixed.
