didn't try that david - this friend of mine lives far far away from me and he  
had so little time to spend at my place - I did a format and reinstall  
windblowz..
It felt so bad to install that proprietary junk but what could I do..

p.s - it is certainly the shitty geforce. I loaded tails on his box and it  
went through the same issue (weird artifacts on screen and flashing, but then  
when tails was fully loaded the driver was loaded also and tails worked good  
on it..)
