yep. that is exactly what I thought! did you reboot the system? Because  
autoremove and autoclean can't fix a DE but a reboot sometimes fixes some  
lagging - It happened to me the first time I installed Trisquel: lagging like  
a drunk horse, especially the terminal.. Then, one reboot later it was ok!
