It might help if you include the hardware that you are trying this on. I  
recall getting a very similar error on an Asus EEE 1001P for the default  
configuration on guvcview, but unfortunately I did not have time to chase  
this issue at the time and I not longer have that laptop ( I was able to view  
camera output in vlc and that was the only thing I tried ).
I am currently using guvcview on a Samsung-NP530U4B and it's working very  
well on the default configuration.
