I have to agree that that's not really the best way to respond. The
implication in his post was that he knew of an easier way to fix the problem
(and keep in mind, the problem is removing proprietary software on the
system), but was telling a harder way on purpose for negative reinforcement.
Negative reinforcement has been shown to be ineffective, but even if it
hadn't been, the suggestion sounds patronizing and unhelpful.
