It's lower quality for a given size, because VP8's compression is much  
better. I don't know for sure whether Theora is capable of being as high  
quality as VP8 or not, but that's a moot point, really. VP8 is better in  
every way than Theora, as far as I know. It really is strange that the FSF  
keeps using Theora.
