It could be a number of issues from what you described.
Could you download & install Trisquel again?
If your download of Trisquel was corrupted or some such thing, doing that  
will get you a fresh copy to install.
If your issue was something a little more severe, re-installing will allow  
you to tell us the error so that we can help you.
So if you get an error again, please write it down or take a picture so you  
can tell us the error.
