This sentiment is nonsense, and I don't know where it comes from. There is nothing about Trisquel that makes it particularly appealing to programmers.

Trisquel doesn't include proprietary firmware blobs, which are required for Intel wireless cards to work. The solution is not difficult, it just costs some money: you need to buy new hardware (in this case, just a USB wireless adapter will do, and you can get those from Think Penguin[1]).

If financial circumstances prohibit this solution, you may have to settle for a distro that includes proprietary software. No one reasonable will judge you if you do this, though for your own sake, you should try to get hardware that respects your freedom more next time.
