I suspect many are unaware, but there has been a bit of a wave of users in
the GNU social network lately. There were two big waves of users: anime
people and then conservatives. Some of the new users are learning about free
software and interested in the idea which is great. I just wanted to spread
the news since this event doesn't seem to be well-known.
I believe some will be returning to Twitter now because the algorithmic
timeline is apparently optional, which is what #RIPTwitter was complaining
about in the first place. Many have said they will stay, and some said they
will maintain account on both networks. Even so, GNU social feels more lively
to me lately than ever before. If you are not too familiar with GNU social,
