I've done a bunch more testing. Thanks for the helpful suggestion about  
connecting directly to the wireless router, root_vegetable. The good,  
although slightly perplexing news, is that despite having one of the  
problematic graphics cards, (1024MB ATI AMD Mobility Radeon HD 5000 Series  
(Dell)) I don't seem to have any of the problems described above. Perhaps  
this is because it's a 2010 model. The bad news is, when I plug headphones  
into my computer I can't get any sound out of them. When I tested the latest  
versions of mint and lubuntu, I was able to solve this using "alsa-tools-gui"  
and "hdajackretask" but I don't see these packages in the trisquel  
repository. Any suggestions?
