Actually, the main thing that makes Ubuntu easier than Debian is the PPAs. Personally, both SimpleScreenRecorder and OBS are programs I don't have installed on my Debian system, because these programs aren't in the Debian repo and I haven't been able to successfully compile them.

This also tends to happen with games a lot. If you use Ubuntu, there's really often a PPA that can get you the latest version. On Debian, you either have to live with an old version (which may not even work on multiplayer servers anymore) or compile yourself.
