The problem is not from lack of trying. There are active measures to prevent  
installing another OS on the iDevices, whereas the PC has always let users  
install another OS (AFAIK, I am relatively young so maybe I am unaware of  
this). One of the futures we are actively fighting against is one in which  
the PC is as locked down as the iDevices.
