Now, I do not know how things work when several partitions are encrypted at once with a same password. Is it even possible without LVM? If not, can Trisquel's installer (or that of another another distribution) ask for the password and then install the system on some of the logical volumes managed by LVM? And is there much point in encrypting data out of /home? Some personal data end up in /tmp and be recovered with PhotoRec I believe...
I do not know. I only encrypt /home (one box to click in Trisquel's graphical
installer). I have not changed the system on a specific machine for many
years: I now always install Trisquel when I buy it and then upgrade to
Trisquel's next versions, when released. I guess it must not be hard
(although it may not trivial either) to change the system and reuse the
encrypted /home.
