I also want to inject something else here. We all know that non-free software is bad, but when you play a game (non-free or not) on a GNU/Linux platform, you are supporting OpenGL and Vulkan, which are both open. If you support Windows, you are supporting the proprietary DirectX. If you are supporting Apple, you are supporting the proprietary Metal.

Apple has been trying to push out OpenGL for a while and due to their super controlling nature of drivers, they are not allowing Vulkan support for Nvidia. At least with Windows, they are allowing Vulkan which is a big step. Especially when the new DOOM game gets a Vulkan patch which should make it easier for WINE 1.9 to support it if they can get around the stupid Denuvo DRM:
