The same can be true for Android, which demands manufacturers to implement  
OpenGL for fancy effects, but it is still bad for your freedom, especially on  
Quallcomm platforms. It does not matter that you are supporting these 'open'  
technologies if it harms your freedom. In a way, I might point out that it is  
actually quite cynical, these corporations want a free platform so that they  
can easily spread their non-free software; they primarily want freedom for  
themselves rather than for their users.
I still think people are better playing on GNU+Linux whatever they are doing  
though.
