This hasn't been my understanding or impression, and I'm talking with two
other free software engineers who seem to think otherwise. If you know
something I don't I'd love to hear it. Particularly evidence if you can point
to it. There might be some evidence elsewhere of a device that was, but I'm
not sure that even that exists. The only one that I know was designed from
the ground up to be free was the Ben Nanonote. It was hoped they could get
FSF endorsement and could have, but the RYF program didn't exist yet. Other
computers like Lemote Yeeloong were not designed to be free, but happened to
be free. Again- I'm talking to people right now that worked on some of these
projects.
