I'm pretty sure it has something to do with your changing the keyboard  
configuration. Remember, you used CLI tool dpkg-reconfigure to change your  
keyboard to Apple laptop.

Your keybindings have changed. Try some other combination, like cmd+option+t.  
Or set a new binding with the current configuration.
