I won't suggest SSH because:
1.- Too much work to autome sync between multiple devices 1b.- Syncthing already does this. 2.- No protection against removing files.2b.- syncthing automatically saves several copies and previous versions of files.
3.- If you do SSH you can't share files. You need to use a different terminal or session and do scp. So you can edit remote files or edit them. But not both.
I think that in this case synching is a much better option.
