When people send stuff to my home computer, I reject Word attachments by quoting Tim Berners-Lee and requesting PDFs. At work, I always save documents as OpenDocument Text.
Interestingly, ODT files are smaller, and it's easier to spot them in a pile of Word documents because of the file type column. <code>Name File Type --------------------------------- How to Send Email Word notes OpenDocument Text</code> So, all I have to do is look for the file names that are all lowercase and have longer text in the adjacent column.
