I was aware of what you said but for some unexplainable reason I couldn't
find
the link that would allow me to download the checksum file.
After reading your post and visiting the Sweden's ACC Computer Club (Umeå
University)
mirror (and thinking that the checksum file that they provide could be
different
from the one the FSF's mirror I had used provides) I went back to the FSF's
mirror I had used before and this time found the elusive file which matched
with the
alphanumeric chain my CLI had delivered 6 hours earlier...and with the one
that your
link to theUmeå University also provides.
I am now completely sure that nothing got stuck on the web
