Isn't there a tab "Open with" in the "Properties" of the file that you access  
from the contextual menu (i.e., the menu you get right-clicking on the file)?  
 If so, you can define the default application and the additional application  
(in the "Open with" sub-menu of the contextual menu) from that tab.  That  
defines them for all the files of that same type.
