The free version of protonmail is really good, and recently they've been  
opening the source code for more of their tools. The protonmail bridge  
program that I have to use to pull mail into a GNU/Linux desktop email app  
was freed up and licensed under GPL3 about 4 months ago, and that was the  
last remaining item for libre use on the desktop that I know of.
