I am one of the people who is very fed up with applications doing these
non-standard things! ;-)

Hiding the menu bar is something I find particularly annoying.

Now some more constructive comments: :-)

I've got no particular problem with the toolbar being on the left but it
does put it quite far from the active areas which are the message area
and the mailbox list area.

I also don't like the column layout. As per your screenshot, it makes
the subject and from lines almost unreadable.

I have a wide screen on my laptop, a 4:3 external monitor at home and a
16:9 external monitor in portrait mode at work. When I do use the
wideness of the screen I tend to use it for displaying more than one
thing rather than just letting a single thing take up more space!

Having no text on the reply button is also a pain because I like to know
if it's "reply all" or "reply one" before I click it and without waiting
for the tool tip.

Sorry to be a stick-in-the-mud!

Regards,
@ndy
