Judith, I'm curious here (and somewhat familiar with TROM): please post
your variations on RI.
Thanks,
Tom

Tom

As far as running RI is concerned this is what worked for me. First of
all, I found that in my journeys of lifetimes, I had somehow had quite
enough of b) Have another create something. It didn't feel good to run
it. So I just ran a) Create something. This felt wonderful and made me
feel balanced and I did lots and lots.

Second, I did mostly creating strong feelings rather than anything else.
So I would create (or even re-create magical moments) like seeing a dear
friend or holding my baby daughter in my arms for the first time. It
was a creation or recreation of the wonder and joy of those magical
moments. I've found that that was jolly effective RI for me because now
a lot of my life seems to have magical wonder and joy in it, just like
was created in RI.

I also did lots of other things too - like different kinds of trees,
parks, designed lovely gardens, made a few useful 'green' new
inventions, etc. It was fun.

I wrote the following for another list and thought it had a lot of
bearing on what you asked, so have put it on this list too.

With apologies to anyone who has read it before. Here it is:

The following is to do with Repair of Importances as in Trom and the
importance of putting in positive postulates to fill the spaces made by
clearing out negative postulates.

I find it hard to talk about this, because there are no words to
describe what really happens or quite how it works. The best I can
offer is from my own experience - so this is what has worked and does
work for me.

I know a little about the Tao way of life, and undoubtedly life is
pleasantest when one is balanced - when one is not compelled to play
this game or that, but has a choice. Having a choice depends on how
free you are. Being free appears to be a state of creative
balancedness. Don't be deceived that being balanced is being still.
Balance is a state of constant motion, constant adjustment to where you
find yourself. If you can't keep yourself balanced, you soon know it,
'cos you fall over.

At the moment I find my life pretty much runs delightfully. If I think
of something I need, it often just comes my way - I don't know what's
coming up next, but is almost always interesting and fun. Life is quite
magical - which is not to say that it is perfect. So it is on the basis
of that that I offer the following. One of the major keys to my
postulates is keeping them non-specific. At present I seem to operate
mainly on one postulate - that is simply - Life goes remarkably well -
and it does. Its amazing but true. I find I am quite happy with that
postulate - it fills all my empty spaces quite satisfactorily and I seem
to have lots of great games come along. I never know quite what, so
that makes it exciting. But I'm jumping ahead....

I realised when I did Trom that I was making massive clear spaces in my
mind, and I really, really wanted to make new good games for myself.
Clear space, or 'nothing' is not a good thing with which to play games.
In fact, Nature abhors a vacuum and will fill it up with anything. But
one doesn't want anything in that space. It is good to remember that it
is actually remarkably easy to fall back into old patterns in the
absence of anything better to do. You actually have to actively create
new postulates that you want - no good doing nothing.

In our native state we are spirits, and spirits spend their time
creating and playing games. Looking carefully at life, one finds that
absolutely everything a being does has the attritutes of a game. Simple
chores, complex actions, be they fleeting or long term, are all built on
the structure of a game.

In order to evolve and learn new survival things, one actually needs to
be able to play the game of life well.

Most people don't even realise that they are participating in a game.
One could say that it is a step in the game of Life to realise that
there are actually rules. Working them well is an ongoing exercise.

These rules can be found in many places - often ancient and occult
places. Getting them all at together, rather than just a few is quite a
task.

So now, after doing lots of Trom and other clearing too, I try to make
my postulates based strictly on the following rules. I have also find
that following these rules tends to develop your psychic abilities, but
it also puts you in a position where you are actually a harmless fellow,
unless theatened by some non-ethical being.

There is a saying that the mills of god grind slowly, but they grind
fine. I've found this to be extremely true - but by following these
quidelines, one tends to get a good reflection back from the universe.

I also like the saying: Do what thou will is the whole of the Law and
the whole of the Law is Love under Will.

This statement is an interesting but true paradox, because love is
superior. But one can live by it or not, one has a choice. Anyway,
love is not quite what most people think it is - an interesting thing
about it is that it has no laws at all - anything goes - it is the
spirit in which it is done that counts - ie, the intention is the all
important issue - and also whether the intention works with the desired
results . (Whew - words
seem to make this simple thing complicated.)

Anyway, I think one needs to find interesting things to do after working
Trom. Its no good letting life be ho-hum - could end up boring, which
is not a good place to be.

What I do is follow what ever takes my fancy, but always along the
following rules to the best of my ability:

I've been endeavouring to follow these rules for quite a few years now -
started before I did Trom - and did RI bearing these rules in mind - and
still follow them as closely as I can. If life isn't working, I go
straight back to them and Trom and sort it out. Trom and these
guidelines seem to be a pretty powerful combination - though other
clearing may be necessary too.

My facilitator gave them to me - and insisted I learn them off by heart.
I'm glad I did, they serve me well.

(These are worth printing out and keeping by the way - its beneficial to
refer to them often)

They are important points to bear in mind when one is creating
postulates - (which is all the time).

RULES AND TRUTHS FOR THE GAME OF LIFE

1.     That which one thinks one creates. Whatever happens to you is
the result of thought since it is the sole source of creation.

2.     The stronger and more frequent the thought the more powerful it
becomes. This works as strongly when used negatively as it does when
used positively.

3.     Doubts, fears and uncertainties act as barriers to any positive
thought and slow down or prevent its attainment. The moment one
realises a thought is undermining one's intention, the positive thought
must be restated to put one on course again.

4.     Concentration on getting rid of an unwanted condition puts the
attention and creative power on that condition whereas one's thought
should be on the desired state.

5.     Visual imagery of the desired result will strengthen the thought
and make it more real to you. Imagining and fearing failure, or an
undesired condition will creat it, or if it already exists, encourage
its persistence.

6.     One must ask for oneself ONLY that which would be desirable for
any of mankind. Asking for oneself alone (selfishly) can produce the
desired result but you will render yourself liable for some sort of
kick-back. (Here again is emphasised the value of the non-specific
postulate.)

7.     Kicking against any condition in life will result in its
persistence. Being willing to accept the condition and being willing
for it to happen again enables the condition to be changed in the way
that one desires.

8.     Thinking that something WILL happen places it permanently in the
future. Think that it is already happening and visualise this. Making
the basic thought is enough to start the process and it will continue
right up to the final result unless deflected by negative thought or
action.

9.     Impatience in regard to the time it takes to achieve the goal
acts as a negating influence. Results come when the time is right for
them to do so. (Although this may be apparent only with hindsight, I
have neverthless found it to be very true.)

10.    Avoid making a second postulate to determine how the first will
come about. Non specific postulates are the best and safest ones. (EG:
A non-specific postulate is I marry a suitable partner. Putting a
second specific, or qualifying postulate in could be something like I
marry John - John may appear to be great at the moment but may turn out
to be unsuitable in the long run. Making unspecific postulates gives
the universe lots of scope to bring the right thing along).

11.    One should be ready, willing and able to follow one's intuitive
feeling as to what needs to be done as a step towards the final goal.
Some measure of doingness is nearly always necessary. (Intuition is
often not logical, but it is a superior ability).

12.    One should NEVER use one's thought power to force another to do
what one wants, NOT EVEN FOR THEIR OWN GOOD. To do so can produce very
undesirable repercussions for yourself since this action is totally
unethical. It is a misuse of power and makes you liable to penalties
for having done so.

13     You must be certain that you REALLY DESIRE any particular change
and not just feel that you ought to desire it. When the will and the
imagination are at war the imagination ALWAYS wins since it is what you
secretly desire.

14.    Really EXPECT things to go right for oneself when this is not to
the detriment of someone else and this will happen.

15.    Do not impose conditions as to how the goal shall be attained.
Let it work out in its own time and in its own way. (Again, keep it non-
specific.)

16.    Do not be deflected from achieving your goal in your own way by
the ignorance of others of the way that this works. (Many would love to
throw you off course!)

17.    Do not restrict yourself by pre-conceived ideas, fixed beliefs
or prejudices.

18.    Be willing to LET GO of anything or anyone. Do not try to hold
on.

19.    Do not take yourself or life too seriously. These guidelines
work better if you don't.

20.    Achieve a number of minor successes to gain confidence and
through these successes gradually build up to handling the major
conditions or changes that one desires.

21.    Success breeds success but failure begets failure. (So
acknowledge all your successes, however small, this gives you certainty
that things are working well.)

22.    Realise that the result of what you create is governed by
intention.

23.    This being so, you are responsible for what you create.

24.    The effects which come from your creation are governed by the
nature of the creation itself and its intended effect.

25.    If you happen to be at unwanted effect in regard to another's
creation, remember this first of all involved you having thought that
this can happen.

26.    Be certain that every thought is made with LOVE. This is
essential to success.

If you look carefully at the above, you can clearly see the ancient
rules of karma, or cause and effect.

A good saying to bear in mind is 'Whatever is, is best. If things are
not as you wish them to be, accept the situation, whilst looking
carefully at it to see what changes you can make to it. Often in
hindsight you will see that Whatever was, was indeed best - you had
something to learn from it.

Rules 22 - 26 are to do with personal responsibility for YOUR OWN
CIRCUMSTANCES. As one's understanding of responsibility grows, so does
ones ability to control, or be in charge of one's life.

It is also most important to define where one's responsibilities begin
and end. Others like to blame others - this is not taking
responsibility - look carefully before taking on blame from others.

Only when you can truly take responsibility for yourself and what you
create or allow in your life, can you be properly free.

Exercises for the Basic Rules of Positive creation.

1.     Let a thought come into your mind. Wht will this thought tend
to create?

2.     Think a definite thought in regard to anything. What will this
thought tend to create?

3.     Think a thought about yourself. What will this thought tend to
create?

4.     If this thought was positive imagine what your next step ought
to be.

5.     If any of the above thoughts were negative think the thought
that would cancel it out.

6.     Think a thought about another. What will this thought tend to
create. What would it tend to create in regard to yourself? (How will
your intention reflect back at you?) Use numbers 4 and 5 as
appropriate.

7.     Think a thought about an unwanted condition of your own. Change
this thought to a positive one and proceed with Step 4.

8.     Think of a goal that you would like to attain. Find the
intention and think the positive thought to start its being attained.
Visualise it being attained. Think of it failing and rememdy this with
a positive thought.

THE KEY TO GETTING THE RULES OF THE GAME OF LIFE IS VIGILANCE AND
PERSISTENCE. KEEP A CLOSE CHECK ON YOUR THOUGHTS AND KEEP THEM GOOD.

If you don't feel good,

1.     Take time to pause.

2.     Look and find out exactly what is causing this feeling.

3.     Check your intentions.

4.     Find out what you do want, change your intentions or actions
according to the basic principles and make the appropriate thoughts.

5.     Put in the necessary doingness to bring these thoughts to
fruition.

6.     it is necessary to accept that things are as they are for a
reason. Find that reason - which is normally the crux of a lesson you
need to learn - and then you can begin to change things. Change can
take time.

That is quite enough! Any questions, please ask.

I also must agree that Carse's book is invaluable. The ideas in that book
combined with TROM and the rules that Judith recently posted are all
complementary, and the have all improved my life.

Much delayed here is the message I meant to send
when I took over Administrator of trom-l.

TROM, The Resolution of Mind, was written by
  Dennis Stephens in Australia.

I first became aware of the existence of Dennis
Stephens in 1955. I was a student on the evening
Professional course at the Hubbard Association
of Scientologists (no church then). He was the
Director of Training, working in the day time
(no long hours then as a matter of routine).

I kept some sort of a track of technical
developments in Scientology until I was thrown
  out in 1983.

I came across a diskette copy of TROM about a
year before it was published, lent it to a
friend, who was enthusiastic and wrote  an
article about it for a magazine (in Danish) I
edited then. This appeared in the May 1994
  number.

I read some of the book when it came out on
paper, and was very interested in what I read.
The test for the neccesity of level one seemed
very good. And I was very impressed both with
time breaking and remedy of importance.

  Why?

Because they appeared to me to be excellent
refinements of techniques from the 50's. Two of
them, Before and After Solids, and Then and Now
Solids we have not reaaly heard of since (though
there was great enthusiasm at the time: These
seem to me to be the basis of Time Breaking. And
Remedy bof Importance seems to me to include the
essence of data and processes on Havingness.

But that was only the beginning. He had refined
these processes so that they could be run on
oneself without a practitioner. And done it very
cleverly, so that the person work out his own
gradient  approach  rather  than  having  a
practitioner figure it out (he did however,
ratherly sillily, put in what I see is an
encouragement to go over ones gradient). I found
master strokes -- which has been born out by
  some of the results.

Levels four and five, I tried to read, but they
  did not appeal.

Now this was issued for only the cost of the
book - I thought that fantastic, and still do.
It  requires  a  little  bit  of  ability,
persistence, and a little bit of guts to run it,
but it does not require a fortune. Therefore I
was strongly in favor, and therefore I was
saddend when this list, TROM-l, appeared to die.
  Therefore I took it over.

Nobody makes any money out of TROM. Therefore
this (money  greed)  incentive  to  promote
knowledge of TROM is lacking. We need this
replaced by a filanthropic enthusiasm to make it
better know. Perhaps this could be the subject
of a thread on this list.

  --- sober note.

I had some communication with Dennis. While
finding him concerned to help people improve
their lot, I found him somewhat arrogant and
bigheaded. He appeared to believe that the text
he had written could be understood by any one,
whereas when I read it, I felt that my knowledge
of scientology was required some times. I felt
that the whole thing should be rewritten so the
majority of intelligent people could understand
it, and issued in two parts. Levels one, two and
three first, because I felt it unwise to draw
attention to the level four and five stuff
before the person was ready for it. I also felt
it an inheritance of "scientology" stupidity to
believe that it would work on "everyone" despite
the fact that he had tested it on very few.

But these are small things. The  work  is
important. I suggest that those who have got
benefits from it could  "repay"  by  doing
something to get others on. We might even open a
  list with that purpose.

I did not get very far with it myself, but that
is the subject of another (coming) contribution
  to TROM-l

To Whom It May Concern,

There have been many bright and noble spirits
searching for procedures to bring about improvements
in the spiritual, mental, and emotional wellbeing
both for themselves and fellow humans.

>From a viewpoint of attempting to improve the lot
of humanity at large, the more easily such procedures
can be be administered, the more valuable they would
be.

In the past, procedures, or 'processes', that have
been shown to work in this way, have been frequently
monopolized or hidden in secrecy for various reasons.

Given the vast capabilities of the Internet, sharing
information such as these processes, offers an
immense potential of improvement for the future of
mankind.

This is especially true for processes that can be
learned rather quickly, and even more so for
so-called 'do-it-yourself' remedies.

Excluding those who have successfully monopolized
their own or borrowed techniques, some authors of
processes that work to the effect described above
are caught between sustaining their livelihood
(and with that their ongoing research into yet more efficient methods) and
their desire to share their
methods or processes with as many people as possible
on this planet.

A concept that has been largely successful in the
computer world which is called 'Shareware' could
be applied to this area as well.

For lack of a better word, I would coin the _expression_
'ShareTech' for all published processes or techniques.

If the 'user' is satisfied and/or is using the
'shared technology', he/she should reimburse the
author with minimally the amount requested on the
original document (which should carry a digital
signature for this purpose as well as to ensure
the authenticity of the original document).

Dear Trommer's,

Ant's picture given in his message 'Delayed' reflects
very much my own viewpoint. A couple of notes, tho:

when I got TROM the first time (as a Mac file draft)
I glanced over it, got turned off by some Scn lingo
and put it aside for a year. When I looked
into it again in late 1994, I got really fired up
and started the list TROM-L on netcom.com (that was
before I started my own server newciv.org).

The mixed messages from Dennis and (after his body's
death) the unclear situation and lack of communication
with the 'heir of TROM' dampened my enthusiasm
significantly.

I'm very happy that Ant was willing to revive this
list and I hope this one will catch on better than
the first attempts.

Still, I would like to know the status of TROM as
of now. I posted earlier my message about 'ShareTech',
a rewrite of a much earlier idea. Perhaps there
can be a way to make TROM in the first 'ShareTech
product'.

Very best wishes to you all,

Max
