Re. Quality of Posts

(Please note, the following post is not directed at one or more
particular members of this mailing-list. It's creation is just
inspired by the most recent replay and the consecutive comments
- thanks to David and Ant - and serves, last but not least, as a
guideline for myself which may be adopted by others if they wish
to do so.)

There is not much use in complaining about declining quality of posts
beyond the fact that it may direct ones attention to the issue of
communication quality at large.

Whenever one develops an ambition toward improvement of circumstances of
which he feels unsatisfied, it is a good idea to consider to step forward
and do it better in order to teach others by example and thus quality
goes way up. It certainly does not suffice to only assume a critical
attitude or to display a "feeling of sorry" as a remedy.

In order to achieve a betterment in that regard I've worked out the
following check list. This does not imply any claims to be complete
and thus I invite anyone to add points to this list.

My recommendations are:

a) Avoid the extensive use of street language.

b) Reread and spell check your written communications before sending.

c) Hold on a moment when you're emotionalized by someone else's comm.
or otherwise. Think again before clicking on <send>.
It my help to ask yourself the questions: "If my post is ever replayed
in a near or far future, would I like to read it then or do I like the
thought that others read it then?" "Will it be of relevance still?"

d) In case you flunked on c) be assured: it's not the end of the world.
Feel anytime free to state that you have changed your mind, have come
to new conclusions, have developed further, whatsoever, ... just say so.
What you thought a minute ago, yesterday, a couple of years ago or in
a past life ... it's a matter of the past. Never loose sight of the
fact that you're anchored in PT and that PT is ones point of power.
There is no use to feel regret, shame, guilt or any other of those low
tones for having had certain opinions back then when they appeared perfectly
all right - which they certainly were back then.

e) Try to be reasonable. It is your responsibility to not make the
reader do guesswork about what your ideas or reasoning were when you
make a statement. So provide your "why". If this can not be done
properly then mark what you originate as your opinion (e.g. you say
I think, guess, believe, my personal view of ... is, a.s.o.).

f) If possible give the source materials you're referring to and provide
the relevant definitions of key words or concepts as a courtesy to
your readers. To give credible references is even more important when
you're ambitious enough to "go against the general flow".

g) If you intend to "sell" an idea of your own origin to your fellow
humans and can not find any source material which would support your
viewpoint because you're in disagreement with most of the writings available
you have to - like it or not - assume and therefore take over all the
responsibilities of a source-point.

g) Stay duplicable whenever you intend to convince. Overwhelms by means of
language or accusations won't do the trick. In order to achieve duplication
it helps to adapt to the receipt point of your communication as long as you
do not have to sacrifice the message. Add anecdotic evidence from your own
experience or - second best - of hearsay at least. Use examples liberally
to make your point clear. Especially when the concept you want to get across
is difficult to grasp.

h) Keep an eye on not going too far astray from the topic at hand.
(Oops - I guess I've to plead guilty at least on that one right now
considering that this is the TROM-list ;-)

i) An humorous and lightly attitude helps to push your point further.
Whatever ones pursue is - it should have at least a tinge of fun.

i) One can severely injure his credibility by repeatedly hurting those rule.

As I said before the above list is sure incomplete but still may be good
enough to spend a moment or two to think about it, perhaps add to it.
The bottom line is - as far as I'm concerned - that there is no such thing
like an inescapable "law of nature" which forces us to believe that communication's properties must go down south as time passes. Generally I'm convinced that, it is up to those who act in the now to recognize and reverse undesirable tendencies

Further I think that the opinions and views shared by the previous generations are no more or less valid or important than yours or mine. No doubt, I learn a lot from those replays. But that I can say as well for the contemporary posts.

Best regards
Robin

P.S.: The replays would not make any sense if it were not for us - right?

Yes. You are possibly right. There was no wild drive to get new people
in. Many people then (like me, like Ken Urquhart) came in by
recommendation. It is worth noting that in the beginning the Sea org was
only open to people who attained the state of Clear "the hard way", and
you had a be Class VI to be invited on the solo auditing course leading
to solo auditing on End Words and then on the Clearing Course.
However I certainly was not higher toned then and I do not think Ken was

That probably explains why many of the people that posted on these

I forgot that the TromList this does not automatically add the sender's

I sent the following paragraph.
