I suggest you take a page from the emacs, lynx and vi book and use only keys which can be touch typd. I have no problem with For example f, b can be forward and backword six second ^f, ^b can be forwad and backward one minute >, < - forward and backward ten minutes etc. and so forth. These keys have the advantage of being touch typable. I for one hat to use any keypad key because it means taking ten seconds to locate my position on the keypad instead of just typing from the main keyboard. This constraint would make it most friendly to blind users IMHO.
