Respond to the article I posted on TT. It sheds a lot of light on Mormon
deception/wisdom.

Let me comment a little on this from my perspective. I think Glenn would be equally concerned about individuals within other Christian denominations that would do the same. For example, you might find Glenn just as unsympathetic toward Protestants who believe that the Bible is largely myth, that Moses did not write the Torah, that the creation account comes from Babylon mythology, etc. The main difference is that if it is only individuals within a denomination that say these things, and the denomination itself is not declaring these things, then the denomination is not to be castigated but the individuals. The thing about Mormonism is that it is the denomination itself which has taken dangerous doctrinal positions which leads people into missing out on salvation and true faith in Jesus Christ. Therefore, he would condemn the denomination as a whole. My personal perspective is that I don't care so much for any Christian organization. I don't care about lifting up one denomination over another, nor about tearing one down over another. I believe that God and the Holy Spirit work independently of these man-made organizations. God will save a Buddhist and a Muslim and a Mormon and a Christian all the same. He does not care about your religious affiliations. Because of this persepctive that I have, you don't find me too often castigating Mormonism as a religion. I will point out the errors of Joe Smith. I will warn others that he was a false prophet. I will let others know that I consider the Book of Mormon to be the work of Joe Smith and not the work of God. I will give reasons for that. But the religious organization, in my opinion, is on just as sandy a foundation as many of the other more "orthodox" organizations. They are worse than many other Christian organizations, because they believe that they are the true church. They confuse the Church of Jospeh Smith with the churches of Jesus Christ. In this vein, the are in the same position as the Roman Catholics, Church of Christ, etc. If you ask Glenn about Jehovah's Witness, he will probably consider them just as bad as Mormonism. That's because they too attack the Bible and try to retranslate it to fix it. Glenn wrote: > Again, I have not seen one thing you have shown > in the Bible that is in error. DAVEH wrote: > Perhaps you didn't read my previous post today...... > http://users.pipeline.com.au/bangsund/muphry.htm > ************ Here again is a difference in perspective. In Glenn's view, and mine, this link is evidence that God has PRESERVED his Holy Word. It is not evidence that it has been corrupted. These mistakes in printing, etc. show that despite all the efforts to change the Bible, God fixes these problems and we still have his Word and have dismissed those counterfeit Bibles. We would not know that these were problems in the past except that the Word has been preserved by God. Now you might argue, how can we know for sure that there are not other mistakes that we cannot discern because we don't have anything to compare it too. Well, that is where faith comes in. Faith does not need empirical proof to affirm a truth. Faith looks to God, through the Spirit, to discern a matter. By revelation, we know that Jesus died for our sins. And it is by revelation that we know that the Bible is God's written Word preserved for all mankind. The problem is that the Mormons appear to lack this revelation from God. Joseph Smith claimed to have a revelation that the Bible is missing many plain and precious parts, and that because of these missing parts, many have been brought under the power of Satan. Mormons are taught to believe this. This is very dangerous, because it is contrary to the revelation that many of us have, that the Bible is God's Holy Word, a tool used by God to unlock many mysteries that pertain to the Kingdom of God. When people believe Joseph Smith over the revelation of the Holy Spirit concerning the Bible, we have a major problem, and that is why many call some Mormon organizations like the LDS one a cult. Peace be with you. David Miller. ---------- "Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer every man."
