If Michael D. would read this article he would notice that Acts 2:46 states, And they, continuing daily in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, explains why they were breaking bread on the first day of the week. They did it every day! It also points out that at no time was Sunday referred to as the Lords Day or the Sabbathit was only called the first day of the week.
Michael D: Izzy, I know this reply is a bit delayed, sorry about that. I would say though, that I am personally not keen on articles and commentaries, myself. I look to the scripture, since as you pointed out, these things can be very man-influenced and slanted. I look for scriptural proof, that's why I try to limit my contributions to the contents of scripture, as I see it, as much as possible. For me, there are too many scriptures in the NT that tell us that the sabbath day requirement is not for the Church. Therefore, I won't feel I need to read a persons writings to see a claim for the origins of Sunday worship. (Please don't think I an trying to be arrogant by saying this.) I suppose if you or Marlin can furnish the scriptures I asked for re a sabbath day command in the Church age, or refute Hebrews 4 and other scriptures I have presented, then I would need to look furt her. Would one of you oblige?
: Izzy,
So again I say, you should not criticize and insult Believers who differ with you on this (ie: you need counseling), as this is a very unloving way to treat your brethren in Christ. Did we not agree that there is room for disagreement on this? Sabbath Keepers have scripture on their side.
I have repeatedly said that this is not the case and I look foward to the scriptures that refute my presentation on this.. Sunday Keepers have what doctrine that they have inferred from scripture Sunday keepers, if they are imposing a sabbath day on believers are also wrong. They are free to keep Sunday if they want, but not to impose it as a universal requirement of God..
(There is no scripture stating that God has decided you should no longer honor the Sabbath. Again, I refer you and Marlin to Hebrews 4.
I would appreciate if you and Marlin can respond to the brief exposition I gave on those few verses in Hebrews 4.
You Sunday folks are the ones doing all the pig squealing that Glenn talked about; Am I to understand that I am included in this comment, Izzy? as in character attacks upon those who dont agree with you. So can we just agree to disagree, and move on please?
Izzy
