Please forgive me, Laura.  I guess I was behaving like somebody else on TT. :-)

I agree with "the one and only gospel which is what Paul was teaching."

I believe that all scripture is in agreement.  If there is something that may at first appear to be at odds, it is I who lacks the understanding.  I believe that all scripture is inspired by God and profitable for reproof and correction and instruction in righteousness.  Peter warned about the use of Paul's writings by some.

2PE 3:16    As also in all [his] epistles, speaking in them of these things; in
which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are
unlearned and unstable wrest, as [they do] also the other
            scriptures, unto their own destruction.

Thus, to understand Paul, we must compare it with all of scripture to see how it adds and harmonizes.  Those who wrest the scriptures in order to justify their own deeds use the method of subtraction.  They fight scriptures against each other and subtract the ones that offer correction to their own thoughts and ways.  I prefer to use addition to come to a greater understanding of the whole of God.

Love,

Marlin

Are you saying that Paul's teachings do not harmonize with the rest of scripture?

If so, which other books have to be torn out and burned?

No  you took that out of context.  They were adulterating the one and only gospel which is what Paul was teaching.  The only books that have to be burned are the ones that deny Christ is God in the flesh.  Laura
