The law defines sin. Sin is the transgression of the law. The soul that sinneth, it shall die. Sin requires the penalty of death. For this reason the letter (meaning the elemental part) of the law killeth.
The law instructs us on how to have life by showing us the consequences of breaking it --death. For the commandment [is] a lamp; and the law [is] light; and reproofs of instruction [are] the way of life: To keep thee from the evil woman, from the flattery of the tongue of a strange woman. PRO 6:23-24 By the way, the above proverb may be taken in a spiritual sense of a woman as a symbol of an ecclesia that is not following the law of God. The book of revelation uses this symbol. --Marlin ----- Original Message ----- From: "David Miller" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Saturday, December 28, 2002 9:04 PM Subject: Re: [TruthTalk] Legalism and Grace > Marlin wrote: > > I know that you are trying to say "the letter killeth" > > = "Sabbath is every day."
