Hey Iz:
God did not change. He is the same now as He was in
Genesis 9:3. Surely you can understand that those
laws were temporary, and used to separate the Jews from other nations for a
small part of the big plan. What you eat has nothing to do with how Holy
or evil you are, any more than tithing made the Pharisees Holy or unholy.
Hopefully, Slade will learn this in school before he infects
others.
Terry

Subject: [TruthTalk] Dietary Laws
Michael D,
Just to let you know, Slade is in
the process of moving to another state to attend seminary so we may not hear
from him until he gets his family settled again. Regarding the
statements from Jesus below, I’m pretty sure that Slade and those who still
live by Torah dietary laws would assert that Jesus was speaking about one’s
spiritual state. And as Terry brings up the vision of the clean vs
unclean foods; the same applies—some believe this was purely a spiritual
meaning rather than a physical one. Many Believers do not believe that
the Lord would think certain foods were clean in the front of the Bible and
then change His mind to decide they are clean at the back of the Bible—they
think He is the same yesterday and today. For me, I don’t concern myself with
what other people eat or don’t eat, because we must each follow our own
conscience.
3 The one who
eats is not to (5)
regard with contempt the one who does not eat, and the one who does not eat is
not to (6)
judge the one who eats, for God has (7)
accepted him. 4 (8)
Who are you to judge the servant of another? To his own master he stands or
falls; and he will stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand.
5 (9)
One person regards one day above another, another regards every day alike.
Each person must be (10)
fully convinced in his own mind. 6 He who
observes the day, observes it for the Lord, and he who eats, does so for the
Lord, for he (11)
gives thanks to God; and he who eats not, for the Lord he does not eat, and
gives thanks to God. 7 For not one of us
(12)
lives for himself, and not one dies for himself;
8 for if we live, we live for the Lord, or if
we die, we die for the Lord; therefore (13)
whether we live or die, we are the Lord's.
9 For to this end (14)
Christ died and lived again, that He might be (15)
Lord both of the dead and of the living.
10 But you, why do you judge your brother? Or
you again, why do you (16)
regard your brother with contempt? For (17)
we will all stand before the judgment seat of God.
Izzy

Do you give any credence to the Clean

Michael D: I am now having a chance to
read through some of the old e-mail that I missed. Just in case Slade is still
around, I would like to address this directly. I did so indirectly in the
past, but am very interested in a direct response from Slade on this (or
anyone else for that matter. Maybe Izzy??). Jesus spoke this
Himself:
Mark 7:14. ...Hearken unto me
every one of you and
understand: 15. There is
nothing
from
without a man, that entering into him can defile
him: but the things which come out of him, those are they that defile the
man. 16. If any man have ears to hear, let him
hear.
I find this to be a very strong
statement indeed concerning things appropriate to eat and inappropriate to
eat. The discussion was concerning eating with unwashed hands, but Jesus made
a stunning comprehensive statement. Any
comments?
