Hi Izzy, You wrote:
I like that. I guess you live in a city with public transportation if you
have no car? Your ideas sound good to me, as one who is feeling possessed by
her possessions! We are considering putting our too-large,
too-time-and-money-consuming house up for sale so that we can downsize
dramatically. I feel rather like someone who has eaten too much, if you
know what I mean. Makes one not want to push away from the table! :-)
Actually we live in the country just outside a small village. No public transportation at all! I ride a bike 20 minutes to and from work most days. Have actually been off sick for most of the last week but have kept occupied with writing.
re. the burdens of possessing more than we really need, I know where you're coming from!
Have you ever read K.P Yohannan's book "Revolution in World Missions"? That book has had a powerful influence on us since we read it many years ago. He has written many others including "Road to Reality" and "Why the World waits". You can check out these and many more and request a FREE COPY OF REOLUTION IN WORLD MISSIONS at the website of Gospel For Asia, one of very few mission organizations which sponsors native missionaries ministering among their own people and which sends 100% of donations to the field without deducting a percentage for "administration expences etc"!!
Check out GFA at www.gfa.org. There are lots of opportunities to invest for eternity NOW!
Just to relate all of this back to the original topic "Jesus is Jehovah"...if he was not Jehovah, we would have nothing at all to offer to the world except another "religion"! If He is not Jehovah, what point would there be in living our lives UNTO HIM? If He is not Jehovah the wisest plan would be to live our lives UNTO OURSELVES! But what a transformation the Gospel of Christ makes in peoples lives and motivations for what they do!
"Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord: (For we walk by faith, not by sight:) We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him. For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad. Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences....
For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead: And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again." II Corinthians 5:6-11 and 14,15
