Even then we are not overcomers > overnight. Salvation is a walk of grace. We sing "Come just as you to > worship" don't we? ## I wouldn't say the sacrificial system was done away with as the Blood of the final sacrifice is still available to be recieved.I think that a person can choose to stop evil due to God giving us the understanding of it wrongness. A thief can stop stealing without receiving Jesus- But the death of the old man and the birth of the new man requires reception of Jesus as the atonement sacrifice for that sin and once done that person receives the holy spirit to teach them God's ways.I don't believe Godly conviction comes by the Holy Spirit-I think that God will and does tenderize the Hard hearted soas one can be convicted to the wrongness of the sins committed due to God initial writhing the laws into our hearts( Sorta like turning up the volume of the song already playing)but the Holy Spirit comes later upon profession of Christ to teach us. > > Dean: I could tell a sodomite that God loves them and it would be a lie. > > jt: No it would be the truth. Jesus died for sodomites, every one of > them. Of course they will need to change, but then so do the rest of us. > Sodomy is sin but so is anger, fear, covetousness, and all the sins of > the flesh named in Gal 5:19 and people who do all those things don't > inherit God's Kingdom either. While we were yet sinners Christ died for > us, we can't comprehend such love. > > Dean writes: Yes -I agree that Jesus died for the whole world-while we > were yet sinners-but one cannot remain in that state-At the moment before > professing Jesus Christ one must stop that sin-due to God saying it is > wrong-and then > doing every thing within their ability too continue in righteousness. > Which means right by God's laws by definition. > > jt: We must be WILLING to change when we come. Look at all the ppl Jesus > healed and afterward said to them "Go and sin no more" It's my belief > that we should have the same attitude and minister the same way to those > in reprehensible sin today. We forgive them and whether or not they do > business with God is between them and God. ##To repent is to turn away from sin in the complete apposite direction. That means to stop the sin unto salvation in Jesus Christ-There are some that fall into sin after salvation that God might tolerate for a while until His spirit teaches then better-To me it would be like obeying the Saturday Sabbath-it takes a while to understand this from the Lords Day of sunday-The Day Jesus rose from the grave. I suggest a word study on the word "repent". Luke 13:3 except ye repent,ye shall all likewise perish. In modern terms-Stop sinning or you will go to hell. > > 1Cor.6:11 And such were some of you... > They are no more in sin-they have repented. > Luke 17:3 .., and if he repent, forgive him. > Mark 1:5...repent ye and believe the Gospel. > Acts 2:38.. Repent and be baptized. > Acts 3:19 Repent ye therefore and be converted. > Acts 8;22 Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God... > Acts 17:30..now commandeth all men, every where to repent. > Acts 26:20..that they should repent and turn to God. > > jt: Amen to all of the above. > > Dean: See my Sister- repentance comes first. > > jt: Yes, repentance meaning a willingness to turn and go the other way > but sometimes a complete reversal takes a little time and God was patient > and long suffering with us. ## I object to the word "willingness"- Where does it say the one must be willing to stop sin? All I read is the command to stop sin now. I would agree that it will take time to fully understand all the commandments and their boundaries-but that's why God choose the foolishness of preaching to save the lost-We tell them what the commandment are and their meanings-Sister can we both agree that one must stop committing those sins that they know as being wrong and accepting the blood of Jesus as a covering for those same sins? > > jt: Anger is a spirit who is not our friend. We don't need to be angry > at our own sin or the sin of others, we need to stop it and encourage > them to also. I don't read the scriptures that refer to anger as > validating it because the scriptures don't contradict themselves and Gal > 5:19 tells us we needs to stop yeilding to it. Just like with slavery, > God does not validate it but the NT addresses it because it was part of > that culture in that time. ## Can a spirit infect God for he gets angry? Psalms 85:4 Turn us O God of our salvation, and cause thine anger towards us to cease. Isaiah 12:1 ... thine angry is turned away. Psalms 7:11 ... God is angry with the wicked every day. I believe to be excessive with anger is wrong-or to be quick to anger is also wrong-or to let anger lead one to sin would be wrong-to have unjust anger is also wrong-but anger in itself is not wrong. > > Grace and Peace, > Judy > ---------- > "Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer every man."
