You are correct. Even the devil himself can sign up to this list and write to everyone. :-) Let me take this opportunity to remind everyone that this list is not a Christian list, nor is it the church. It is an open forum to talk about truth. I believe that Truth is Jesus Christ, so I don't expect that those outside of Christ will be too interested. Nevertheless, we welcome all, Mormons, pagans, witches, warlocks, homosexuals, whoever. We ask that discussion be allowed here. The list is not meant to convert anyone to Christianity or away from a particular religious sect. The list is meant to discuss viewpoints and ideas and I believe that when that is done, the Truth will be left standing and those who love the truth will see it. Dave Hansen has been on the list as long as anyone, for about 3 and one-half years. It is amusing to me how he writes sometimes as if he has just arrived. Nevertheless, I think Dave understands very well the nature of TruthTalk and hopefully he appreciates its goal of allowing respectful discussion among those who hold very disparate belief systems. We have had many other Mormons come and go, such as Blain, Jeff, Paul, etc., but Dave Hansen has continued and I can say that because of Dave, I know much more about Mormonism than I ever would have otherwise. I'm the kind of person who needs a little motivation to study. Dave has provided that. His comments and ideas have caused me to order numerous Mormon books and to study for hours upon hours exactly what it is that Mormons believe. Those who avail themselves of TruthTalk with the goal of learning and discovery of Truth rather than the goal of evangelism or proselytizing or straightening out those in error will quickly learn what advantage it is to be able to actually correspond with someone with a very different educational and philosophical background. As your views are challenged and you apply yourself to study and scrutinize what is said, you will become more firmly convinced of what the truth is. Even if you had held to truth before engaging in this, you will be better able to know why you believe what you believe, and this in the end will make you better able to articulate your views. So lighten up and understand what this forum is all about. Nobody is rejecting anybody here. The list does not prefer Mormons over Street Preachers, nor does it prefer Street Preachers over Mormons. The list is a neutral ground where discussion can take place. You want to make a passionate argument? Fine. Great. Do it. Just do not engage in ad hominem arguments, which is where you attack the person rather than the subject matter being discussed. Peace be with you.
