DAVEH: I fully agree. But let me explain it from a different angle, Judy. God created Adam & Eve, knowing beforehand that they would succumb to temptation. (I assume you agree with that.) Then he places a temptation in the garden, knowing they would partake of the forbidden fruit, and what the consequences would be.Be careful that you do not cross the line to LDS interpretation here Judy. Sounds reasonable, but here is where this is leading. if you read the following then reread the above you may be able to see it also in that staement above. Is this God tempting Adam & Eve?DAVEH: That is not what I'm getting at, Dean. I'm trying to find out what purpose Protestants think the tree of knowledge of good and evil served if He (God) knew they would partake of its fruit?Dean writes:We have told you many times that God gave us a free will in his likeness-the freedom to chose good or evil -and once chosen one must live with that choice-but thankfully He also made a way for us to return to Him-thru Jesus Christ-again a simple answer that escapes Mormon theology. If God knew that a person would burn himself with fire-why did he create fire in the first place? But I realize that you are not looking for an answer only a way to confuse others.
"For reasons that have not been revealed, this transition, or "fall,"
could not happen without a transgression-an exercise of moral agency amounting to a willful breaking of a law (see Moses 6:59). This would be a planned offense, a formality to serve an eternal purpose. The Prophet Lehi explained that "if Adam had not transgressed he would not have fallen" but would have remained in the same state in which he was created (2 nephi 2:22). Missionary Preparation, Religion 130 p 74 Lesson 10God wanted Adam to sin?
DAVEH: Do you disagree, Dean? Do you think it was necessary for A&E to know the difference between good and evil???Dean writes:I agree that one can more appreciate good after experiencing evil-A&E knew Good for they knew God -but I don't think think one gains by knowing evil for God told us to refuse evil as you should do.Brother Kevin-Mormon theology fails to clarifly to me why God would also come to earth in the form of a man to become the perfect sacrifice to return man back to the state he was in before he sinned in the garden.
DAVEH: ??? That doesn't make sense to me, Dean.Dean writes: Repent of Mormonism and it will make sense, Dave. If He purposely allowed evil into the Garden- so we could fall (a you say)-why did He also suffer on the cross so we could be restored? To me this would be a waste of good blood-can one say it was to test man only-if so why does God declare that he wills none to perish-and that his hand is out stretched to man all day long.Christ died for all men-if they repent- not just those that pass the test or those that work to perfection to become a God. Mormons believe that Jesus is the God of this world just as they will be Gods over their own planet. Demon theology-from the mouth of Satan himself-"I will set in the seat of God and be as God". Mormons are not little gods-only little demons-that eat here to infest here- because they can. They work just as hard to promote untruth for Satan -as we do to promote truth for God- Hence workers of iniquity as Esau was -they are-I wouldn't waste to much time on them-DAVEH: You know, Dean....sometimes it is difficult to carry on an intelligent conversation with you.Dean writes: I'm sure that if I agreed with your Mormon theology then we would get alone just fine-then we would both be intelligent-right? Save the smooth talking for someone that believes it-I don't-so speak your mind with me.but to help those that have been infected on this site is a good work-and worthy. When pressed you will notice them claiming Jesus-to appear as workers of light-to get support from their helpers on this list-DAVEH: Sorry to disappoint you, Dean, but you don't have a monopoly on Jesus. Christ died for all of us.....including old Mormon boys like me.Dean writes:Yes, He died for all-but to the unrepenting- His death will be to their hurt not their help-He died so that one will not have to remain in sin-If one chooses to remain in sin anyway-ignoring the grace offered-their final state will be worse. To go to hell after hearing the word many times will be tougher then going to hell without hearing the word at all-You should fear as it has been in your presence for years now and still no repentance to life.--you will recognize the sympathizers-they will have something to gain for their support (gainsayers). Hope this helps.
