JUDY SAYS: Scripture says "they will know we are Christians by our love" So where's the love? We may need to ask ourselves which Kingdom we represent.

2 Tim 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

JN 13:34-35 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

You are not rightly dividing here. These scriptures are in reference to the BRETHREN. Are we to LOVE, Jim Jones, Marshall Applegate, and other decievers who took the simple, and used them for their own benefit?

jt: Actually yes we are to walk in love toward them, even Sadaam Hussein. Deceived ppl don't know they are deceived and we are not yet appointed to be their judges because we have not first judged ourselves.  When God's love is perfected in our own heart, maybe then.

Pauls desire is that, believers hearts would be knit together in love Col 2:2

ARE THESE VERSES NOT TALKING OF THE BRETHREN?

1 Jn 2:10 He that loveth his brother abideth in the light

1 Jn 3:14 We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.

DONT FORGET THE TRUTH, IT IS GOOD TO HAVE A LOVING SPIRIT BUT NEVER AT THE EXPENSE OF TRUTH! WE MUST WORSHIP GOD IN SPIRIT & IN TRUTH!

jt: I agree but before we start slinging our sword around and shoving our light down other's throats we should judge ourselves.  Do you know that 'judgment begins at the house of God?'

2 Jn 1:1-2 The elder unto the elect lady and her children, whom I love IN the truth; and not I only, but also all they that have known the truth; For the truth's sake, which dwelleth in us, and shall be with us for ever.

THE BIBLE DOCTRINE OF SEPARATION DEMANDS THAT WE NOT ASSOCIATE WITH EVILDOERS

jt: Yes, evildoers in the Church that call themselves Christians.  Jesus did not separate us from the evildoers in the world, to do that he would have had to have taken us out of the world. We are not to be afraid of evil, we are to overcome the evil with good.

Ps 26:3-5 For thy lovingkindness is before mine eyes: and I have walked in thy truth. I have not sat with vain persons, neither will I go in with dissemblers. I have hated the congregation of evil doers; and will not sit with the wicked.

jt: We must remember that David was King in a theocracy and that everyone around him was supposed to be in covenant with the one true God.

WHERE IS THE LOVE IN THE ABOVE VERSE & THE NEXT?

PS 139:21-22 Do not I hate them, O LORD, that hate thee? and am not I grieved with those that rise up against thee? I hate them with perfect hatred: I count them mine enemies.

jt: So you think that David here is giving us permission to hate?  I've heard that this is why most young men in prison choose the Muslim religion - because it allows them to take vengeance against their enemies and requires no forgiveness.

WHERE IS GOD'S LOVE?

Hosea 9:4 All their wickedness is in Gilgal: for there I hated them: for the wickedness of their doings I will drive them out of mine house, I will love them no more: all their princes are revolters.

Reprove: To find & express fault, censure severely or angrily. Contend: To strive in controversy or debate; dispute.
How does one LOVINGLY REPROVE?

jt: We need to let God be God Kevin. In Hosea 9 he is judging Ephraim yes, but he has been longsuffering with them and waits a long time. Also this is under the Old Covenant. We are under the New Covenant and he says 'vengeance is mine, I will repay.'  Our responsibility is to warn ppl about the Day of the Lord, love them, and try to reconcile them to God.

SEPARATE & REPROVE

Eph 5:11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.

jt:  Note: It is the works and not the ppl we are to have no fellowship with, we expose them (the works) and in my Bible the cross reference for this scripture is 1 Tim 5:20 "Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear" so it is an in-house thing that is never, ever dealt with to my knowledge.

2 Tim 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

jt: Again, in house. The scriptures and spiritual giftings are so that believers can grow into Christ; not to take out on the street and hit the unbeliever over the head.

2 Tim 4:2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.

jt: To the CHURCH.....

HOW DO YOU LOVINGLY CONTEND & WHY WAS PAUL CONTENTIOUS?

jt: I don't know that Paul was contentious or that you are rightly dividing the Word of Truth; why did Paul write: "And the servant of the Lord must not strive (contend) but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, in meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truty; and that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will (2 Tim 2:24 KJV); are you saying that the scriptures contradict each other?

Prov 28:4 They that forsake the law praise the wicked: but such as keep the law contend with them.

jt: We are now under the New Covenant and so we fulfill the law of Christ which is LOVE.

Jude 1:3 ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.

jt: Yes, contend against fear and unbelief for the faith...

1 Thes 2:2  we were bold in our God to speak unto you the gospel of God with much contention.

jt: I read this to mean that they were bold to speak the gospel and the contention came from others. in Phil 1:30 Paul contrasts some who preach Christ of contention with others who preach out of love. He rejoices that Christ is named but does not validate preaching with a wrong motive.

ECC 3:8 A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.
Try to be a well balanced christian! All love is just as out of balance as all rebuke. There is a time and place for everything.

jt: True Kevin, but those with a self appointed rebuking ministry are a concern because they can do so much damage. I don't advocate just talking love. We are supposed to walk it. Ppl don't care how much you know until you show them how much you care.  They need to see something different. Jesus works always helped ppl whether or not they deserved it and Father God rains on the just and the unjust. Whether or not they reject him is between them and Him but we should not be a stumbling stone in the process.

IF THIS VERSE FITS WEAR IT! Titus 1:13 This witness is true. Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith

jt: The apostle is writing to his disciple Titus who is leading a body of believers in Crete and in this verse he tells Titus to rebuke false teachers, unruly and vain talkers and deceivers who have come in amongst them, especially Jews and no, I don't believe this scripture fits either of us.  You are not a Church leader and I am not in your group trying to introduce a different message.

jt: TT'ers why do you all make light of these things? If I were an
unbeliever/Mormon I wouldn't stay on this list two minutes. Scripture

DaveH was trying to stay with the Bible until some of you began
overloading everyone with Mormon doctrine/trivia which has now
become overwhelming .. We still don't know where DavH stands.

Can we stay with scripture and leave off accusations and jokes and
barbed comments re wives/underwear etc? We don't have to respect
the Mormon structure but we can at least treat the ppl with some
civility if we are incapable of love.

Dean writes:
I am also still waiting on your reply of how many women you claim/use as wives.

Ruben:
WHAT??? Wait just one minute here…I thought this was a Christian board?
Miller did you know about this multiple wife guy? Does this person take
this Mormon doctrine to the letter…??….next you are going to tell me
about tall Quaker type people living on the moon?

Ruben, I suspect DaveH has multiple pairs of mormon underwear, but he
has never breathed a word about multiple wives! (Could it be?) Izzy

Ruben:
Has there been anything said about multiple PERSONALITIES?
What have I gotten myself into with this group???
Does Dave go by “Legion?”
