If the outside world is not thinking negatively about Christians, then the Christians are doing something wrong. They rejected Jesus, hanging him on a cross. If they don't have the same response to his followers, then it seems to me that maybe his followers are not really his followers. Also, I don't think God needs me trying to defend his reputation. My job is to do God's will. God is more than able to take care of his own reputation. I think when we take the approach of trying to make God look good or make God look attractive to the world, then we are doing God a disservice. God expects the world to conform to him, but some people try to make the image of God conform to the world. I think you have done this with your viewpoint that there is no hell fire to which God will cast most people. Only a minority will be saved. Peace be with you.
