In TIME PAST God spoke by prophets: Peter speaks of Prophets in the past tense Remember Jesus warned of False Prophets.   If the above statements are true - Then there has to be prophets today.  The issue for me is how to discern who is a false prophet and the only way I know to be sure is to test their prophecy and see if it comes true.  We have recent examples of false teachers and prophets.  There have been and there always will be false teachers and prophets.  I'd be interested to see a comparison of the definitions according to LDS and Protestant theology.  Laura
