I'm still way behind on reading the TruthTalk email. I received a private e-mail complaining that DaveH and Blaine have broken the ad hominem rule. I'm asking everyone involved, please put the brakes on. TruthTalk is not the place to put people on trial. Some of the threads have degraded into threads that do little more than put Mormon members on trial or responses that put certain Street Preachers in a disparaging light. This has to stop or I will have to do some house cleaning. I'm asking you right now to control yourselves and police yourselves. If someone tries to suck you into a personal fray, please resist the temptation.
TruthTalk is for talking about Truth. If you want to discuss Mormonism, fine, talk about it, but don't start attacking DaveH, Blaine, or any other members. Make your case on the merits of your arguments alone. Also consider asking serious questions to let the other party show what they believe. DaveH has been an excellent example in this regard many times. TruthTalk will allow false teachings to be discussed fully, but what will not be allowed is attacking other members. The reason is because of what has been happening lately: BORING, BORING, BORING posts between two personalities trying to one-up the other. I don't care if Dean is right or DaveH is right. I want to hear each of you make the best case you have for what you believe to be true. I would like to hear you argue your positions and determine who makes the most sense. Present the evidence you have and let us decide who makes the most sense. TruthTalk is not a debate list where a "winner" is decided. Rather, we just share opinions and viewpoints with one another. We are here for the process of discussion, not for vainglory. One other problem: Most of you are not editing your posts. You need to eliminate unnecessary information from your posts. We do not want duplicate information. Only quote what is necessary. Do not reply with a one line reply and have the entire post left below it. Cut out the unnecessary information. This will help those of us trying to catch up on all the posts. Peace be with you.
