The idea is to get both sides of the story, DaveH.

DAVEH:  Nonsense, Perry.  DavidM already stipulated that there are many Protestants who subscribe to such thinking as Jeff described.  So why bother questioning a person who is not available?  There is really no reason to defend him either, as nobody on TT is attacking him.   Casting doubt on his presumed beliefs is insignificant IF there are other Christians who do hold the same belief.  Do you dispute that there are Christians who believe such???  Until somebody claims otherwise, I'll have to defer to DavidM's comments as being accurate.

Do you have more than one
child? When they have a spat do you only hear one side of the story, then
punish the other without first hearing the other side? I am only suggesting
that we offer this pastor the same kindness...he has no way to defend
himself, and I am not sure Jeff did not either mis-interpret or spin what
the preacher said.

I am going to abstain from using the word "ridiculous" since it has become
emotionally charged of late,

DAVEH:  Fair enough.  I will do the same, in deference to your desire to keep TT calm.  I will say that the reason I used the term is due to another TTer suggesting that it was an unjustified comment about some of the beliefs of TTers.....in contrast, I felt it was justified.

but I do not agree that God condemns people to
Hell to bring glory to Himself. He has made Hell for sinners, yet he wishes
that none should perish, and that all should come to Him through Christ.
