I was born in 1933 in Covington, but that was not home. Home was a little
place called Crescent Springs. You walked from Crescent Springs to Fort
Mitchell, then rode the street car through the woods to get to Covington.
Left there in 1949. Never went back until my mother died in 1993, and then
only to bury her next to my dad.
When I lived there, the river was so polluted that all you could catch were
carp and a rare catfish. There were no deer, and very little small game
because people needed to eat and they hunted year round. About all we ever
got were 'possums. When my dad died, we moved to Florida, and I found
paradise.
