Many rc are impressed with the accounts of a spirit claiming to be
the "Blessed Virgin Mary" who appeared to some ignorant little kids at a
place called Fatima. When word spread of the "miraculous" happenings
there, large crowds followed these kids out to watch while they went into
their trances. Many hundreds of people reported that the sun grew in
size, split into several parts, flew around the sky for awhile, then came
back together a became the normal sun again. It's hailed by many as
"proof" of the power of the BVM.

Many muslims are impressed the accounts of Mohammed's meeting with
his spirit master, whom he acknowledged was a demon, who gave him his
revelations, the final revelations, the real ones that are better than
all those fake and corrupted revelations in the Christian bible.

Wasn't there a lady named Helen Baker Eddy (or something like that)
who professed to have had some experience with a spirit which gave her
new, final, authentic, better-than-the-rest revelations? That seems kinda
impressive.

Edgar Casey claimed to be Christian to the day he died. He had more
"revelations" than just about anybody. His "work" healed many, many
people of various physical maladies. It was very impressive. Many people
still buy the books, and are very impressed with him and the notions
which he (actually his demons) advocated.

In his book, "Autobiography of a Yogi," Paramahansa Yogananda told
all sorts of anecdotes about yogis who lived underwater for days without
ever surfacing for air, other yogis who materialized flower petals from
their fingertips on a regular basis as "proof" of their spiritual
authority, of yogis who became "ascended masters" (sounds kinda like the
situation to which lds-ers are looking forward), etc. All of that is
very, very impressive, especially to young and impressionable people.

Over the years, I've read about Jo's experiences, the experiences of
those I've mentioned above, and many others, all of which, in my opinion,
have the look and smell and taste of unclean spirits misleading humanity.
I'm not impressed.
