This discussion reminds me of the time about six or seven years ago
that I sat down and did a chart on the years covered by the early
patriarchs from Adam down through Noah down to Abraham. I found that Adam
and Seth died while Noah's father was alive, and Noah died when Abraham
was fifty-two years old. (That's true if memory serves me correctly; I no
longer have the chart.) I've thought about this stuff some over the
years, and I've decided that it's likely that each of the men in this
line went back to the oldest men alive in a sort of pilgrimage to get the
oral history held in the memory of each living ancestor. I suspect Noah
did this as did his father before him. I suspect that Noah and the others
before him did not trust completely in oral history, but they probably
wrote down the stuff they were told by their predecessors. If this is
true, then Noah had a whole boatload of manuscripts with him in the ark.
(Sorry about that terrible play on words.) I suspect that the tradition
of getting the know the ancestors probably continued up through Abraham.
I won't be at all surprised, if, on judgement day, we discover that
Abraham spent some quality time with Noah and Noah's manuscripts, and
that Noah spent time with all of the other predecessors except Adam,
Seth, and Enoch.
I have no proof of all this, but, ihmo, it's a reasonable way to
explain much of what's been passed down to us, such as the prophecies of
Enoch, etc.

It says the Scripture PREACHED to Abraham. You try to place this into New
Testament times. The Scripture PREACHED, The Scripture forsaw This was
not AFTER Abraham departed, it was the scripture that made these things
known to Abraham!
Your version is the "scripture has now recorded" that Abraham.....
or the scripture is the Angel of the Lord?
DavidM The Scripture foresaw the gospel coming to the Gentiles and all
nations
being blessed, by recording this for us at the time of Moses.
But the scripture forsaw it during the time of Abraham!
It "preached before" (word in the original, what is the greek here David
for "before")
