No that's not exactly what I'm saying - do you have a big problem with the KJV?  It's been at the top of the pile for more than 400yrs and I don't know of a new one that can hold a candle to it for the beauty of it's prose and its understandability.   jt

john: NASV -- hands down.  New English Translation is good.  It has over 60,000 general and technical notes.  The folks have a web site.  Their goal is to get the Bible into as many hands as possible. New Living Bible is  also very good.   As far as critiquing the actual mss  ---  you and Kevin are the first on that one and I have been around a long time.  Got to go polish my walker.  The bible is as we know it, is the result of a comparative study of various and ancient sources, as you well know.  If God gave it to us, it was through the "providential" route.  KJV is fine, I might add.  But there are others that certainly just as good if not better.  Right?

jt: I still think the KJV is the best study Bible for one who is not literate in the original languages. Some of the others omit thousands of words - I like the majority text and my Strongs Concordance.  For center column references however, I like the NASB.  judyt
