Dung Elsman - all dung!! Who in their right mind wants to swim with the sharks and live in stress city? This is the stuff Paul referred to when he went through his own worldly pedigree - pharisee of the pharisees, tribe of Benjamin and all that. He said that he counted it all dung to gain Christ. I don't see what you call "creative thought" (F) having anything to do with the Holy Spirit - they say all of that was fruit of the 'enlightenment' Where was the Holy Spirit during the 'dark ages' in Christian Europe? Do you believe the Holy Spirit has anything to do with the Capitalistic system in the USA? Actually I have in the past pondered the fact that Israel (God's people) could boast of no great art, architecture, music, etc. All they ever had to boast in was their God and when they were walking where they should have been He took care of all their needs - He was their healer. What is so wonderful about (D) who wants to be there at 50+?. The real basis for lack of creativity or sane thought in India, China and Japan is their paganism and look at how they treat their women - This attitude goes hand in glove with mankind in his Adamic fallen state where the strong lord it over the weak and take advantage of them. Paul did not demean or denigrate women because God does not do that; in spite of the hardness of heart in Jewish men there was Deborah, Hulduh (the prophetess) and the example of a godly wife in Proverbs 30 (who was a business woman). From what I read I don't get the idea that Hubert Lindsey knew how to treat his women either because he was locked in to this kind of a mindset. Paul wrote 1 Tim 2:11,12 to Timothy who was pastoring a church at Ephesus because the young man was battling the gnostic heresy which had female leadership and these gnostic women who had infiltrated his Church claimed to have special revelation that was denied men. This is why Paul goes through detail as to how the woman was deceived in the transgression - Why didn't he mention Adam who was not deceived but who made the conscious choice to disobey God which is much worse. The NT is not a rule book and Paul did not write this in concrete as a hard and fast rule for all time because there were women working with him in ministry who would have been in the position of teaching men and so this would have made him a hypocrite. judyt Elsman writes: JUDY, |
