I remember the days when 7th Day Adventists were considered a cult.
And today, they are accepted by the larger Christian community.
Some
of my favorite customers on Adventists -- full of grace and
concern for
others and accepting of different doctrinal directions.
According to a course I just took they are considered a sect. The main differences other than their day of worship (which in itself is not a
problem)
are that they consider their church to be the remnant church and do not
believe in hell.
Hi Laura: I have a close friend who recently
joined this sect. She and her
husband attended a month of lectures on
eschatology which drew them in
even though the lecturer lied about his
affiliation saying that he did not
represent any particular denomination and they had to
find out during the
Saturday worship when they noticed the Adventist
Hymnals which would
have put me off.
My friend has some major fear issues so not
believing in hell may have been
a draw for her. I notice she and her husband have gone
into a lot of legalism,
they have gotten rid of all jewelry including their
wedding bands - So far what
I an seeing is all outward stuff and very
religious. Will have to wait and see.
Grace and Peace, judyt
